The original Wood Lane station opened in 1908, for the Franco-British Exhibition of 1908 and the 1908 Summer Olympics, but was permanently closed in 1959 as the result of fire damage. Plans for Westfield Shopping Centre in 2005 prompted its reconstruction, and it reopened on 12 October 2008.
The modern station has one of the highest percentages of oyster-card users, since there are no staffed ticket offices at Wood Lane.
Wood Lane is a short distance from the old BBC Television centre, known as the ‘Doughnut’ which was officially closed in March 2013.

Thanks for the update. I understand that Hillingdon’s labyrinth fell off its perch. I hope to see it firmly screwed to the wall soon. Not yet found the Barbican one.
