Tottenham Court Road 138 / 270

Tottenham Court Road station was originally called Oxford Street before Oxford Circus opened in 1900. Its most distinctive permanent feature is the famous thousand-square-metres of colourful mosaics by Eduardo Paolozzi from the 1980s, inspired by local life above ground.

From 2016, Tottenham Court Road will be the site of a permanent installation by leading French artist Daniel Buren, commissioned by Art on the Underground.

The station was used for a sequence in the 1981 film An American Werewolf in London.

Pink Floyd played many early concerts in the 1960s as the house band at the UFO Club at 31 Tottenham Court Road.

Labyrinth can be seen at the bottom of the escalators at the Oxford Street entrance.
