Edgware Road was part of the world’s first underground network. It opened on 1 October 1863 as a part of the Metropolitan Railway between Farringdon and Paddington.
In Roman times, Edgware Road was a section of Watling Street, which ran from Dover through London and towards St Albans.
Pre-2009, the Circle line ran as a full circular network. Now you can no longer make a full circular loop.
