The famous ‘Mind the gap’ message was first recorded by Peter Lodge in his studio in Bayswater in 1968. His recording is still in use on many trains, although some lines opt for Emma Clark’s Manchester tones, while the Piccadilly line uses the voice of Tim Bentinck, David Archer in The Archers.

The UK headquarters of the Catholic group Opus Dei, as featured in Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code, is located in Bayswater.

Winston Churchill and Tony Blair are both ex-residents of Bayswater.
