Plaistow 87 / 270

It’s hard to believe that Plaistow was a rural village in the early Victorian years, seen as a luxurious day-trip destination away from the perils of the city.

A walkway called The Greenway runs through Plaistow and is part of the walled embankment containing the Northern Outfall Sewer. Signage along the route is made from the old sewerage pipes.

The Fifty Nine Club, the largest motorcycle club in the world, is located in Plaistow.

Jake and Dinos Chapman attended the University of East London’s art college, housed in the grade-II listed Greengate House.

Notice the platform seating from the London, Tilbury & Southend Railway era. Enjoy.
