Northwood Hills 10 / 270

When the station opened in 1933, there was a competition for its name and Northwood Hills was the winning entry.

Near to the station is Ruislip Woods – London’s first natural Nature Reserve and, at 726 acres, the biggest area of woodland in the capital – as well as Ruislip Lido, a popular weekend spot with an artificial beach open to the public since 1936.

In the Tube’s prestigious Underground in Bloom gardening competition in 2011, Northwood Hills station staff were awarded the Outstanding Contribution award, in recognition of exceptional achievement, having won twenty awards, including six first-place prizes, since 2003.
