West Ruislip is a north-western terminal for the Central line. The station originally opened in 1906 as Ruislip & Ickenham, renamed in 1947.

Between 1911 and 1961, Ruislip’s population grew from 6,217 to 72,791. This steep incline is considered to be the result of the railway expansion.
