Stamford Brook 253 / 270

Stamford Brook takes its name from an estuary of the Thames that today is largely underground. The ‘ford’ in the name refers to the place where the Great West Road crossed the stream.

Stamford Brook was the first station on the whole of the London Underground network to have automatic ticket barriers, installed on 5 January 1964.
