North Acton station opened on 5 November 1923 and serves only the Central line, despite the fact that the Piccadilly Line runs through the parish of North Acton. Initially the station was due to be called ‘Victoria Road’.

Station staff regularly participate in Transport for London’s annual Underground in Bloom competition, and in 2010 won first prize in the Fruit and Vegetable category, for their sweetcorn and strawberries.

The Black Island Film Studios are nearby, one of the largest television and film studios in central London.
