When the station first opened in 1924, there was nothing there but a village surrounded by countryside. Several posters, which can be found in the TFL archives, were produced to encourage people to move to Edgware with catchphrases such as ‘Live in an Old World Village of Pleasant surroundings’, ‘Leave this and move to Edgware’ and ‘Live at Edgware and Live!’. Nowadays, Edgware is a busy multi-cultural residential area.
