At 197 feet, the escalators at Angel Tube station are the third longest in Europe. Artist Mark Wallinger featured them in his 1997 film work Angel.

The station is named after the Angel Inn, built in the 1600s, which became a coaching inn and local landmark in the nineteenth century, mentioned in Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist.
