Aldgate is the only station on the whole of the London Underground network to have a platform (or in this case two) dedicated exclusively to serving the Circle line. Edgware Road and Gloucester Road both have a Circle line platform, but the District line also uses them when needed.
Disturbingly, Aldgate station is built on the surface of a large plague pit, with over 1,000 unidentified bodies buried there.
