The name of Ravenscourt Park derives from the nearby 8.3 hectare public park and garden, the grounds of the 12^th-century Paddenswick Manor, which was renamed Ravenscourt when sold to Thomas Corbett in 1747, due to the raven in his coat-of-arms.

Though the station only facilitates the District line, there is a platform for the Piccadilly line that is used very occasionally.
