Holland Park station opened on 30 July 1900. Designed by Harry Bell Measures, it was built with a flat roof in order for a retail unit to be created on its surface. 113 years later, still no unit has been built.
Nearby Holland Park, spread across 54 acres of land, was historically the grounds of Cope Castle and now houses Holland House. Badly damaged during World War 2, only a small part of the house remains, functioning as a hostel. Throughout the summer, Holland Park offers an opera programme.
