The station was designed by a Mr Clemence, a student of John Wolfe-Barry, and opened on 1 March 1880. It had previously been used as a train-operator depot, but this function then moved to Earl’s Court.

 Parsons Green is a proposed site for Crossrail 2 (Chelsea-Hackney Line).
