Moor Park station has been open since 1910, originally as ‘Sandy Lodge’, changing to Moor Park and Sandy Lodge in 1923, until adopting its current name in 1950.

Its current name is taken from Moor Park, a country house built in 1678–9 for James, Duke of Monmouth. During World War II the mansion was used to plan Operation Market Garden, which resulted in the Battle of Arnhem. The Grade I listed building is now part of Moor Park Golf Club.
