Newbury Park originally opened on 1 May 1903.
The most prominent feature in the area is the bus station adjacent to the station with a copper-covered barrel-vaulted roof. Designed by Oliver Hill and opened on 6 July 1949, it won the the Festival of Britain architectural award in 1951 and is now a Grade II listed building.
