The section of the Northern line at Hampstead Tube station is the deepest, at 221 feet below ground, and has the most steps of any Tube station: 320 in total.

Look out for the original tiled station sign on the platform wall that still reads ‘Heath Street’, the original name proposed for the station.

Visit Hampstead Heath, the famous ancient park covering 790 acres. Within it is Keats House, where the poet wrote Ode to a Nightingale, and Gospel Oak Lido, a Grade II-listed Art Deco open-air swimming pool.

In the Domesday Book of Records of 1086, Hampstead was noted as nothing more than a small farm valued at fifty shillings. Nowadays, it has more millionaires within its boundaries than any other area of the UK.
