Cockfosters opened in 1933 and is a Grade II-listed building designed by Charles Holden. Its most striking feature is the tall concrete-and-glass platform canopy, supported by narrow blade-like concrete columns and beams rising from the platforms and spanning the tracks.

Nearby is Trent Country Park, with its meadows, brooks, lakes, ancient woodland and historical sites.

Chickenshed Theatre was founded in Cockfosters in 1975 in a chicken shed, and pioneered the concept of ‘inclusive theatre’, which means that anyone, regardless of background, race, gender, age or disability, is allowed both to watch and perform.
