Clapham Common is a lively and popular park with pub and café, annual fireworks displays, open-air cinemas, concerts and festivals, including the annual Colourscape Festival in September, combining visual art with contemporary music.
Nearby is 575 Wandsworth Road, whose striking hand-carved interiors were created by Khadambi Asalache, a Kenyan-born poet, novelist, philosopher of mathematics and civil servant, who turned his home into a work of art.
