Jeremy Deller (born 1966) lives and works in London.
Deller has helped to rewrite the rules of contemporary art for the past two decades, moving seamlessly between artistic producer, publisher, filmmaker, collaborator and archivist. In 2016 he devised ‘We’re Here Because We’re Here’ an artwork in the form of an event, that occurred across the United Kingdom on 1 July 2016, the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, which it commemorated. In 2013 he represented Britain in the 55th Venice Biennale and in 2012 he created ‘Sacrilege’, a life-sized, inflatable replica of the British heritage and pagan site, and tourist attraction, Stonehenge supported by Create, Mayor of London, Arts Council England, Creative Scotland and the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art.
