This Guide was written for visitors to the exhibition 100 Years, 100 Artists, 100 Works of Art celebrating 100 Years of the London Transport symbol, the Roundel. The guide is aimed at teachers, families and group leaders and draws on the contemporary artists’ responses as well as looking back at historical examples of artists internpreting the Roundel.
In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the symbol of London Underground and London’s transport system – the Roundel – Art on the Underground commissioned 100 artists to make brand new works of art inspired by the Roundel as a contemporary symbol for a world-class transport system.
