This project was developed in collaboration with Peer Gallery to coincide with the artist’s exhibition there and in other sites in the Shoreditch area. The poster was produced to be inserted into advertising sites across the London Underground network, extending the reach of the exhibition from Shoreditch to the entire city.
The works were inspired by the faded advertisements from the early twentieth century that were painted on walls at a number of locations around Shoreditch. Bob and Roberta Smith’s project tackles the issues raised by the blandness of today’s average high street, and draws attention to how current economies of scale are squeezing the life blood from many independent and individual high street businesses.
