As part of the London Design Festival, Platform for Art brings together London Underground staff, design students from the London College of Communication, University of the Arts, writers from 26 and publisher Cyan Books – a collaboration consisting of over 120 participants.
London Underground’s Platform for Art programme presents a unique poster at each Circle line station while the complete stories are told through an exhibition at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. The book From Here to Here is written by members of 26 and is published by Cyan Books.
Which sculptures caused a huge controversy in 1929? What brought scientific wonder to Euston Square in 1808? Read each story and see the images, which reveal some of the most evocative places in the city through the eyes of writers and designers who will take you on a tour beyond the scope of tourist guidebooks.
Seek out the individual posters as you travel around the Circle line. A full set of these striking images can be found at Embankment Station between Northern and Bakerloo lines from 12 September to 10 October 2005.
Visit the exhibition From Here to Here at the London College of Communication from 16 September; the book, published by Cyan, is out on 1 September 2005.
