This week’s recording is of the calls of adult and juvenile Black-headed gulls and the sounds of a juvenile being fed. During the recording a Black-headed gull drops the fish it was carrying in flight. Another gull catches it on the wing, but drops it into the water below after being attacked by a third gull. The birds were
above a small pool of water beside a sea wall in an area of salt marsh. The recording was made at seven o’clock in the evening, on the twenty fourth of July 1982 in Norfolk, England. The weather that evening was very calm and warm.
