Wolfgang Tillmans is one of the most influential artists working today with the medium of photography. Using images as both subject and material he has created a diverse body of works relentlessly exploring what constitutes an image. Coming to prominence in the 1990s with works that documented the youth and club scene in London, he has since shown a particular attraction to the abstract and fragmentary creating complex installations where he each time rearranges and reinterprets his own vast archive of images.
