Siobhan Davies’ Dance Company is a creative environment for dancers to develop artistically. Davies is a passionate advocate of collaboration and develops close creative relationships with artists from other disciplines, particularly music and design. Previous collaborators include Kevin Volans, David Buckland, Sasha Keir, Peter Mumford, Orlando Gough and, most recently, Max Eastley and Caryl Churchill.
She founded the Siobhan Davies Dance Company in 1988, on her return from a year in America on a Fulbright Arts Fellowship, and premiered White Man Sleeps and Wyoming at the Riverside Studios. Since 1988, she has made 20 works for the SDDC including two full-length works, Wild Air (1999) and Of oil and water (2000). She was named as one of six Creative Britons in 2000 and was awarded a CBE in the New Year’s Honours 2002 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to dance.
