Hounslow East 264 / 270

Originally opened in 1883 as Hounslow Town, then closed from 1886 to 1909 when it re-opened again as Hounslow East, the station was redesigned in 2003 by Acanthus Lawrence and Wrightson Architects, including a new eastbound platform building with a striking green roof.

Staff frequently play classical music over the PA system as part of an experiment to discourage anti-social activities at the station.

Hounslow East is the closest tube station to Twickenham – England’s national rugby stadium. With 82,000 seats, it’s the largest dedicated rugby union venue in the world.
